Privacy
Privacy, in plain language.
Monk Mode is built to help you set boundaries on your iPhone. This policy explains what Aura Technologies LLC processes when you use the app, visit this website, contact us, or manage a subscription.
Effective and last updated: July 26, 2026
1. Scope and who we are
This Privacy Policy applies to the Monk Mode iPhone app, monkmode.site, and related support, account, sync, and subscription services (together, the “Services”). Aura Technologies LLC is responsible for the information it collects through those Services.
Apple, Google, Firebase, and Stripe also process information under their own privacy policies when you choose to use their services.
2. Information we process
Website visits and first-party aggregate analytics
You can browse the website and follow the App Store download link without creating an account or signing in. We use first-party, aggregate website analytics to understand whether pages are useful. The current site measures page opens, section views, checkout-intent clicks, clicks on app-download links, the landing page, device class, referring website hostname, and campaign tags such as UTM source, medium, and campaign when they are present in a link.
Our analytics records do not include a name, email address, message body, full IP address, or persistent user identifier. We do not set a third-party analytics cookie or use website analytics to follow you across other sites. Like any website, our hosting provider receives technical request data needed to deliver pages and protect the service.
Contact and support
If you send the contact form or email us, we process the name, email address, topic, subject, message, and any attachments or details you choose to provide. We use that information to answer you, troubleshoot, handle privacy or deletion requests, and maintain an appropriate support history.
Google and Firebase account services
Google sign-in is not required to browse the website or download the app, but it is required before starting a Stripe web subscription so the purchase can be connected to the correct Monk Mode account. Google may provide a Firebase user identifier, email address, display name, and profile photo. Firebase may store your account record, app preferences, sync data, and subscription entitlement.
When you use an optional account or sync feature, app settings and summarized activity may be associated with that account so the feature can work across supported sessions or devices.
Apple and App Store distribution
Apple distributes the Monk Mode iPhone app through the App Store and processes information associated with downloading or updating the app under Apple’s policies. The current website subscription is not billed through Apple.
Stripe web billing
Current website subscriptions are processed by Stripe. Stripe processes the payment method and billing details entered in its secure checkout. We may retain the customer, checkout, subscription, and transaction identifiers Stripe provides, along with the plan, billing status, relevant dates, and the email or Firebase account used for the purchase. We do not store full payment card numbers.
3. Screen Time permissions and activity
Monk Mode uses Apple’s Screen Time and Family Controls frameworks on your iPhone so you can select apps or categories, apply blocks, and view useful activity summaries. Apple controls the permission prompt, and you can revoke permission in iOS Settings.
The Monk Mode website never receives Screen Time permissions, app selections, usage records, or activity data. The app uses Screen Time information on your device to provide blocking and progress features. Only when you choose an optional account or sync feature may app settings and summarized activity be sent to Firebase and associated with your account.
Screen Time permission does not give us the content of your private messages, direct messages, email, photos, files, or the content you view inside other apps. We do not ask for or use that private content.
4. How we use information
We use the categories described above only as reasonably needed to:
- provide app blocking, settings, activity summaries, sync, and account features you choose;
- confirm, restore, and support subscription access;
- answer support, feedback, privacy, and deletion requests;
- measure website performance in aggregate and improve Monk Mode;
- keep the Services secure, prevent abuse or fraud, and diagnose failures; and
- meet accounting, tax, dispute, and other legal obligations.
5. When information is shared
We do not sell or rent personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We use a limited set of service providers for specific jobs:
- Apple distributes and updates the iPhone app through the App Store.
- Google and Firebase provide sign-in, account, database, entitlement, and sync services.
- Stripe processes current website subscription billing and provides subscription-management tools.
- Hosting and infrastructure providers deliver the website, APIs, and security protections.
We may also disclose information when required by law, to protect users or the Services, or as part of a business transaction where appropriate safeguards apply.
6. Retention by category
We retain information according to why it was collected:
- Aggregate website analytics: kept as dated, non-identifying reports while useful for comparing site performance, then deleted or further aggregated.
- Contact and support records: kept through the conversation and afterward only as reasonably needed to follow up, recognize prior troubleshooting, protect the Services, or resolve a dispute.
- Account, settings, and sync data: kept while the account or requested sync feature remains active, then removed from active systems after deletion, subject to limited backup, security, and legal needs.
- Purchase and billing records: kept while needed to provide entitlement and support, and afterward for applicable accounting, tax, fraud-prevention, refund, chargeback, and legal obligations. Stripe applies its own retention rules to data it controls.
We may retain a minimal record of a deletion request when needed to document that it was completed.
7. Your choices and deletion
- You can use the website without signing in.
- You can decline Google sign-in, but it is required to start or manage a Stripe web subscription and connect paid access to the app.
- You can change or revoke Screen Time permission through iOS Settings, although blocking features will not work without it.
- You can request access, correction, or deletion by emailing monkmode@aura-technologies.co. If available in your app version, you can also use Settings, Privacy & Data, Delete Account.
We may need to verify that a request relates to your account before acting on it. Account deletion does not cancel a subscription. Manage or cancel the web subscription through Stripe using the same Google account, or contact subscription support.
8. Security
We use administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards appropriate to the information we process. No system is perfectly secure, so we cannot promise absolute security. Please do not send passwords, authentication codes, or full payment card information to support.
9. Children
Monk Mode is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from a child under 13. A parent or guardian who believes a child sent us personal information can contact us to request deletion.
10. Processing locations
We and our providers may process information in the United States and other countries where they operate. Privacy protections can differ by location, and providers apply the safeguards described in their terms and privacy notices.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as Monk Mode or its service providers change. We will post the revised version here and change the “last updated” date. If a change materially affects how we use account information, we will provide additional notice when reasonably possible.
12. Contact
